Mom & Daughter Sweater Pillows

I know, I know, sweater pillows have been done and done again a million times. I have been wanting to try them for ages and I just kept putting it off. I have so many pillows as it is and I know what my husband was going to say as soon as he sees them, "What, more pillows?".
But I must say, I love the pillows.
Thanks to Steph at Crafting in the Rain, I finally got this project off my to do list.
Steph asked me to be a part of her series "Make a Splash", the project I submitted was the above pillows.

I had these two sweaters in the giveaway pile for a little while (*rhyme!). The white sweater was my daughters and the red sweater was mine.

I already had 2 pillows on hand that I made a couple of years ago and I've gotten tired of them so I cut the sweaters to fit those pillows.

I made 3 flowers out of the trim on the sleeves & neck of the red sweater.
The white sweater has sequins and I thought it looked great as is.

The pillows look kinda valentiney too!

Wire & Yarn...Valentine Words

I`ve seen a few wire & yarn words floating around lately. Isn`t it such a great idea?

I was happy to find some wire that my husband had lying around and of course I had turquoise wool, so I sat down and went to work.

The "Love" was super easy to do. The "Feb 14" was a little trickier because the wire was fairly thick and I was not able to bend it to cross the "F" or to make the "1", I cut those pieces separately and hot glued them together.

The problem with that is I was left with a glob of glue to cover over as well. Next time I'm gonna stick with words that flow with a single piece of wire.
In any event they still look good on my window!

Cutting Edge Stencil Tutorial & Giveaway!

Another weekend has come and gone...too quick. Every weekend should be a 3 day weekend, there are never enough hours in the day to get everything done.
I guess I have too many projects on my list, I did manage to get a couple crossed off though.

Remember this dresser I refinished?

Well I thought it needed a little something extra.
Thanks to Cutting Edge Stencil's I had the perfect update it needed.

Isn't it great? I am in love.

This was such an easy task, I was completed in about an hour. I definitely give this a thumbs up. I want to stencil everything in the house now.
I was leary about stenciling before, but the Cutting Edge Stencils are a breeze to use.
I chose the  Casablanca Craft Stencil.

Here are some pictures of the process.

I used frog tape to attach the stencil, I held it down with my hand as well as I stenciled each section.

I was enjoying stenciling so much that I added a few birds in the corners of my daughters bedroom.
They are fantastic and she loves them.

Cutting Edge Stencils has awesome video tutorials to show you just how easy this really is.
Check this one out!

Valentine Tree

I have this twig tree that I decorate for just about every occasion. The twig branch is one that I cut from the woods behind my house. I use it year after year, it's held up good.
For Valentine's I decorate it with a few stamped images on cardstock hung with twine and some little metal hearts I purchased at the dollar store.
It's a cute little addition to my dining area and I love the pale turquoise vase it's in - It was a metallic copper color but I painted it a pale turquoise...much better!

Make the Scene Monday #8

It`s Make the Scene Monday time again!
I'm looking forward to some VALENTINE inspiration.
Bring it on!!
My hubby and I painted our daughters room today, turquoise of course. She picked out the color herself, maybe with a little suggestion from me!
It looks great, now to get everything back in it's place. I do have to paint a dresser for her room, I'm trying to figure out what color to paint it - any thoughts?
Her bed spread is black, turquoise & lime green.
